HIGH LIABILITY GORE-TEX EXTENDED COMFORT FOOTWEAR

    HAIX SCOUT GORE-TEX

High Liability GORE-TEX Extended Comfort footwear has been specifically engineered for challenging environments in hot climates. Whether they are worn on multi-day missions or in active combat over rough terrain, these robust summer combat boots offer outstanding foot stability while also promoting a healthy climate inside the boots.

This has been confirmed by our wearer trial: between May and September 2012, a total of 34 soldiers, including members of the airborne forces, infantry and mechanised infantry, wore the HAIX Scout GORE-TEX boot – mostly between six and twelve hours a day. The boots were tested on a diverse range of combat missions and training exercises conducted in different climate zones, including tropical rain forests (warm/damp) and deserts (warm/dry). They were also worn during various physical activities at army barracks. Overall, temperatures ranged from -5 to +40°C.

At the end of the 20 week wearer trial, a questionnaire was used to collect feedback from the soldiers.

    HIGH BREATHABILITY

When asked about how damp their feet had felt in the boots (how much they had sweat) during activities of moderate intensity, for example when on guard duty at the barracks, 90 percent of the participants said that their feet had felt comfortable. During periods of more strenuous physical activity, this figure was still as high as 52 percent.

    SWEATING
inside the test boots (outdoors, at different activity levels): At rest or during moderate activities (on guard duty at the barracks) over 90% of the soldiers said that the climate inside the shoe was pleasant. During periods of more strenuous physical activity this was still confirmed by 52% of the participants.

    PERCEPTION OF TEMPERATURE

The combat boots also scored high when the participants were asked about the temperature inside the boots. 91 percent of the soldiers said that their feet had felt comfortable during activities of moderate intensity. 60 percent said that this was still the case during more strenuous physical activity.

    DURABLY WATERPROOF

All of the soldiers confirmed that the test boots were durably waterproof. In addition, the boots offered protection against penetration by certain commonly occurring chemicals including diesel, cleaning agents and battery acid.

    OVERALL POSITIVE RESULTS

Overall, the results of the wearer trial were positive. 83 percent of the participants said that the combat boots were “good” or “very good”.
