When faced with toxic chemical or biological incidents, soldiers need protection against multiple types of threats. Their suits must allow them to move freely and remain engaged longer.
GORE® CHEMPAK® products employ an advanced moisture vapour permeable (breathable) ePTFE-based chemical and biological protective film. This barrier technology allows high levels of moisture vapour (perspiration) permeability while protecting against a broad range of hazardous chemical vapours, liquids and aerosols. Gore has two lines of material technologies: GORE® CHEMPAK® selectively permeable fabric with breathable membrane, and GORE® CHEMPAK® ultra barrier fabric, which is not breathable.

GORE® CHEMPAK® selectively permeable fabrics are moisture vapour permeable to reduce heat stress through evaporative cooling. They provide a physical barrier to liquid toxic industrial chemicals, biological agents and viral particles. They are air impermeable thus delivering the highest level of aerosol protection. This broad defense against chemical warfare agents endures even after exposure to fuels, sea water, and other contaminants. The fabrics are lightweight, thin and flexible. They are used in overgarments, versatile two-piece stretch undergarments, as well as glove inserts and socks.

GORE® CHEMPAK® ultra barrier fabrics feature a non-breathable membrane that will stop small droplets, particles, toxic liquids or aerosols from entering. The fabric maintains its integrity even after exposure to petroleum, oils, lubricants, and other liquid contaminants. GORE® CHEMPAK® ultra barrier fabric improve mobility and bending capabilities in garments and overboots, while reducing bulk between fingers in gloves – improving overall operational effectiveness.
